The “Serenity Prayer:” Its Roots & Branches

Sometimes wisdom can seemingly come from the most unlikely of places.  Consider a box of Jolly Rancher Kisses, for example.  Nowadays, if you know what these candies are at all, you probably find them most often marketed in a pretty nondescript plastic bag rather than a box; but back in the day, little individually wrapped hard candies like those on the left below used to come in bulk form (as far as I know) exclusively in a display box similar to the one in the photo on the right.
